As her way of giving back during the festivities, now through Christmas Eve, she is offering Special Prices on prints of all sizes on paper and on canvas online and throughout the studio as her annual 'Thank You' gift to her collectors.
Happening during the holiday festivities is a first-ever event surrounding a special work of art. Starting Tuesday, December 2nd, at 6 a.m., and ending at 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th, an online auction will take place for the above original 24" x 36" oil painting, "Autumn on the Nanticoke". It's story, more photos and details about the auction will be available on the Silent Auction page of this website Tuesday.

"The holiday festivities are a time I really look forward to," said Ellen, "not only at my studio, but throughout the coastal area. I love catching up with old friends and meeting new collectors and am looking forward to it all!"

About Ellen Rice

Ellen Rice has been painting since she was a small child, learning at the elbow of her Corcoran School of Art-taught mother and by studying the fine works of art collected by her Navy admiral grandfather during his travels around the world.

People have been buying her paintings since she was a teen. Through countless hours of drawing and painting, constantly challenging herself to be better, and through her dedication to creating art that uplifts, she is today considered one of the mid-Atlantic's most collectible painters and has a global following.

Her original, often luminous paintings and their giclee reproductions can be found in private homes, offices, government and corporate collections throughout the United States and globally in 18 countries on four continents.

'Celebration Series' of 25 small paintings continues

Picture"Wave Watching," No. 14/25 of Ellen's Celebration Series. Just released and available.
Ellen is creating a Celebration Series of 25 small original commemorative paintings that are debuting every few weeks throughout the year.

Most of these paintings are inspired memories and reference photos she's taken over the years, many thousands of them. "I finally realized that I'll never paint everything I've planned to paint. I'd have to live to be 200 and then would have even more, so I'm taking some of my favorite images and doing these smaller commemorative works, getting them out of my head and onto canvas into a form I can share."

The majority of the Celebration Series paintings have sold while in progress from the from the series page and from her free eNews notices to subscribers.

Ellen's porcelain ornaments featured in Bay to Beach publication

Picture

The publication wrote about Ellen (pg 38-41) and chose for recommended holiday gifts three of Ellen's porcelain ornaments, featuring her paintings: "Serenity" of an Assateague Island pony, "Night Settles Over Fenwick" showing the Fenwick Island Lighthouse at sunset, and "Winds of Time" featuring one of Delaware's WWII watchtowers.

The ornaments can be purchased in the studio or in the Ellen's Small Gifts section of this website. The guide was published by Delaware State News.

Visiting the Studio & Gallery

PictureEllen with her globally collected, work of factual maritime history and art, Treasure Beaches of the Mid-Atlantic.
You are welcome to explore Ellen's work in person at her studio & gallery all year during listed hours. Click on the "Visit the Studio, Where & When" page for hours, directions and a link to a live Google map.

The studio & gallery is located off the beaten path in the coastal area of southeastern Delaware in a purposefully constructed building in front of Ellen's home. The studio offers plentiful light through floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Cedar Neck Peninsula's beautiful James Farm Ecological Preserve.

The Cedar Neck Peninsula juts into Indian River Bay about one mile west of the Atlantic Ocean and about 2 miles northwest of Bethany Beach. It's about a half hour south of Rehoboth Beach and Lewes, Delaware and fifteen minutes north of Fenwick Island and Ocean City, Maryland, depending on traffic. It's about 45 minutes north of Assateague Island, Virginia.

Ample free, off-street parking is provided.

Commissions

Picture
While Ellen most often paints scenes of the coastal area she's called home since a child and inspirational paintings that come to her in prayer, she also accepts a small number of portrait and scenic commissions every year.

To be on her waitlist for a commissioned work of art or to consult with Ellen, please call
(302) 539-3405 for an appointment.

A new award, the best kind - from followers and collectors voting for Ellen

For the fourth year, Ellen has been voted Best Artist for Sussex County, Delaware, including the entire coastal area as well as inland towns, by the readership of Coastal Style Magazine.

Sussex County is a region with a large, fast-growing number of very talented artists, and Ellen only rarely, at special invited events, shows her work outside of her studio & gallery, so "The news was a very pleasant surprise! Thank you everyone who voted!"
