I paint portraits in several mediums and often work long distance via email. Children interacting with others or doing something with their dogs, cats or horses are my favorites, but I also enjoy painting whole families. Mediums are oils, grisaille, sepia pencil, and graphite. Prices are based on size, medium and complexity. Please contactme for more information.
Above and at left are two of my favorite children's portraits, though it's hard to choose. Each has its own story.
In these two, it's the interactions that drew me to paint them.
Above is "Always Your Friend," of Molly and Emma Lavelle, adapted from their grandmother's photo of the girls when they were young. I could feel the love between the two sisters the entire time I was painting them.
The older girl, Molly, was the Miss Teen Delaware USA in 2023, and her younger sister, Emma, who was born with severe handicaps, is an outstanding student in high school. They have a remarkable story. No prints. This was commissioned by the grandparents for the girls' parents for Christmas.
At left is "Burying Treasure," which has a quite a different and amusing story. You can pretty much guess what's going on - except one participant was not particularly happy with the situation.
No shrinking violet, she dug out of the sand and took the matter (and shovel) into her own hands going after her brother. They both survived.
