The Lawrence Mansion
The Lawrence Mansion was originally built for Charles Wright, a prominent local tradesman and shipper.
It was a name familiar to artist, journalist and history lover Ellen Rice, who at the time worked in a newspaper office and printing complex in a building built by Wright along the waterfront. At one time it was part of Wright's extensive shipping activity on the Nanticoke River.
Rice lived near Lawrence, passing it almost daily, and when she started drawing vanishing historic places, she felt obligated to preserve Lawrence's beauty in pen & ink.
Fine art reproductions of her original pen & ink are offered as black & white, as well as colored, lithographic prints in two sizes. The prints are individually titled and signed in pencil by Ellen. A reproduction of the drawing watercolored is offered as a limited edition archival giclee.
