Above the Clouds
When you get above the clouds, the sun is always shining, the sky is always blue. - Ellen Rice
Above the Clouds
by Ellen Rice
The verse at the top of this page came to me long before the image of this painting. I wrote it on a dry erase board the morning I thought of it, kept the board where I couldn't help but see it often and pondered ways to best illustrate it for quite awhile. The words were inspired by the feeling of peace I get when flying in airplanes and looking down on banks of fluffy white clouds thousands of feet above the earth. Often things we see and experience humanly are symbolic of greater spiritual truths. I often think about how those below the plane are going through their daily rituals and may be seeing a dark gray sky above them, all the while the view from above is incredibly beautiful. There is never a time when the sun is not shining and the sky isn't blue somewhere, and I hope this painting is a good reminder of this truth. My bookmarks of Above the Clouds come with the words printed on them: "When you get above the clouds, the sun is always shining, the sky is always blue." Prints don't but I can inscribe the words in pencil in the lower margin the same way if you wish. I can also personalize the back of bookmarks for you with a name and the words, "... God is always shining his love on you," completing the verse. - Ellen |
