"A Moment in Time"
A pastel painting that captures a moment in time walking down the beach in
the pink light of dusk along the Mid-Atlantic Coast
A Moment in Time
by Ellen Rice
There are times when I'd like to stop the clock and make everything stand still so I can soak up and hold onto the beauty of the moment.
I often feel this way when I watch the ocean. Its ceaseless ebbing and flowing are a rhythm that is reassuring, even in the midst of a storm. No matter how furious the storm, everything eventually returns to normal.
My pastel painting, "A Moment in Time," was inspired by a friend's photo and memories of days many years ago when my late husband, son and I enjoyed spending long days at Delaware Seashore State Park in Fenwick Island. They were peaceful days, ending with peach-tinged twilit skies in a lifetime living by the sea.
Let the world rush by. For this moment, I'm going to stand here, experience it fully, appreciate this part of the amazing journey that is life, and follow the horizon as far as I wish.
You're invited to follow along with me.
