"Coming in for a Landing," Celebration Series #12/25 - AVAILABLE
"Coming in for a Landing" is the 12th painting in my Celebration Series of 25 commemorative small paintings. This painting is an 8" x 8" x 1/8" oil on fine, oil-primed linen.
It's summertime, and the painting depicts a day when I followed a narrow, winding path in the James Farm Ecological Preserve, coming out at a spot overlooking Indian River Bay and a sweet surprise, a Egret landing in the shallow water right in front of me. I worked from memory and a photo I took as reference for an 18 square foot painting that now hangs in the waiting area lobby of the new Beebe Healthcare South Coastal Cancer Treatment Center in Millville.
The large painting, Tranquility, was a commission award. It's purpose was to uplift, and it has become apparent that it is doing it's job. I hope this little takeoff on a portion of the painting does, too.
Since the center opened, a number of people have come to me asking for prints of Tranquility. I can't do any, however, because I gave away my rights to the painting, so I'm doing this little painting that encompasses the feel of the day in Tranquility and contains some of its tranquil elements. There will be small prints. Maybe later I'll do something larger.
The egret landing near the foreground of "Tranquility" has now flown into this little Celebration painting. Enjoy.
