"September Serenity," Celebration Series painting No 3/25 - Sold in progress from 9/22 eNews alert

This summer I decided to paint a selection 25 "smalls gems" from my thousands of "saved for future paintings" photo references to celebrate my gallery's 25th anniversary, releasing one about every two or three weeks.
"September Serenity," a 6" x 12" oil on canvas, was inspired by a spot about a mile from my home on the small Cedar Neck Peninsula of Ocean View, Delaware, that juts into Indian River Bay. Beyond the trees in the distance is the Atlantic Ocean.
It's the fall equinox as I write, and already the marshes are turning color. It seems only weeks ago they were a fresh, vibrant green.
This time of year at the shore has been my favorite most of my life. The air is so fresh now that most of the tourist vehicle traffic is gone, and away from roads and developments, the sights and sounds of nature embrace you ... gulls flying overhead, water gently lapping against a marshy shore, the occasional bald eagle or heron passing by....
I'll post the completed painting here by the end of September.
All of the Celebration Series paintings are signed on the front and also titled and numbered with the words Ellen Rice Studio & Gallery Celebration Series on the back of the painting's stretcher bars.
