Jeff Peters, originally from California, moved to the East Coast with some college friends from the University of New Mexico after finishing his third year as a ceramics student. After working at a ceramic workshop one summer Jeff and a friend found a small log cabin for sale. Georgetown Pottery began in 1972 in that one room log cabin. Soon they were making pots and having a great time. Better yet they were selling them. The Ellen Rice Gallery has been selling Jeff's creations for him since 1999. I met Jeff and his wife at a craft show. About 6 ft. 5 in., with large hands and very broad shoulders, to look at him you would not imagine him crafting such delicate things as flower vessels. I started carrying his flower vessels, Japanese ikebanas, first, then branched out a few years later to include his very popular ceramic tide clocks. I now sell his ikebanas in a wide array of shapes, sizes and beautifully glazed colors, his ceramic tide clocks in a variety of nautical and coastal designs, his tabletop fountains whose colors coordinate with his ikebanas, and a variety of other small, practical ceramics for the home. My selections are below. Thank you for shopping for Jeff's work at my gallery. - Ellen |
